Il nome della trasmissione
"Rasta Reggae radio" era il titolo di una trasmissione radio nazionale giamaicana ideata all'inizio degli anni 80 ma mai andata in onda. Questa trasmissione doveva essere condotta dal carismatico ribelle Peter Tosh che, trasmettendo reggae music intrisa di tematiche spirituali e sociali, avrebbe dato voce ai poveri e agli oppressi dei ghetti. Chi era al potere in quegli anni, non poteva però permettere una cosa del genere... Peter Tosh era ormai un personaggio famoso anche a livello internazionale e per mezzo di una radio nazionale la sua voce poteva scatenare effetti devastanti per il potere precostituito che sfruttava le diseguaglianze sociali per curare i propri vantaggi. L'elemento destabilizzante che un mezzo di comunicazione indipendente come "Rasta Reggae Radio" poteva generare infatti, è stato smorzato sul nascere: Nel 1987 Peter è stato assassinato dai servizi segreti americani inscenando un tentativo di furto, guarda caso proprio pochi mesi prima della messa in onda della prima trasmissione. Questo nome "Rasta Reggae radio" è quindi diventato per noi un simbolo di libertà e ribellione ai paraocchi e paraorecchie che babilonia ci impone ogni giorno. Senza nessun tipo di presunzione, prendiamo oggi nel nostro piccolo, il testimone di un grande e scomodo personaggio come Peter Tosh per unire la nostra voce al coro di coloro che si sentono soffocati da una realtà urbana intrisa di finzioni ed inganni e da una scala di valori preimpostata da una cospirazione di malvagi benpensanti. Il Roots reggae è messaggero di limpida verità. "Rasta reggae radio" è lo spazio in cui questa liberà può esprimersi. Ringrazio infinitamente per questo Radio Onda D'urto e il suo staff che ha reso possibile tutto questo. Buon ascolto.

The Name of our Radio
"Rasta Reggae radio" was the title of a radio program planned to be transmetted at the beginning of the 80s but never born. This program would be leaded by the rebel Peter Tosh that would have given voice to the poor ones and to the overwhelmed ones of the ghettos transmitting roots reggae music (full of spiritual and social thematic). Who had power in those years, could not allow something like that. Peter Tosh was a famous international personage already and , using a radiophonic public amplification, its voice could trigger devastating effects for the preconstituted power that took advantage on the social imbalance in order to cure its own advantages. The destabilizing element that an independent mass media like "Rasta Reggae Radio" could generate in fact, has been dampened on being born: In 1987 Peter Tosh's demise was not due to his accidentally stumbling into an ongoing robbery in his house, but instead was a premeditated murder committed by those (maybe even the American intelligence) who did not want Tosh to set up the controversial, militant "Rasta Reggae Radio" station in Jamaica . This name "Rasta Reggae radio" therefore has become for us a symbol of freedom and rebellion to the blinkers and earflaps that Babylon imposes us every day. Without no type of presumptuousness, we take today in our small program, the "baton" of a great but difficult personage as Peter Tosh and his message in order to unite our voice to the chorus of those who feels demselves suffocated from babylon system conspirancy. Roots reggae music is messenger of limpid truth. "Rasta reggae radio" is the space in which this truth can be expressed. I give thanx infinitely to Radio Onda D'Urto and its staff who has made all this possible.
