ll sound Jah Lion Nasce sotto il nome di "Lion of Judah Sound" nel 1997 dalla voglia di un collezionista della provincia di Sondrio, con pluriennale passione per il vinile Rocksteady Ska ed Early Reggae di trasmettere le proprie conoscenze musicali ed il messaggio contenuto nei suoi dischi alla gente che lo circonda. Il progetto, nato abusivamente in un assolato pomeriggio su di una spiaggia del lago di Como, e proposto ai vacanzieri come alternativa alle attrattive naturalistiche della zona, ha dimostrato fin dalle sue prime ore di vita un buon consenso di pubblico. Questa inaspettata sorpresa ha spinto Luca Pelizzatti, il fondatore, a continuare ad investire sempre maggiori risorse in quest' opera nell’intento di trasmettere a sempre più gente in giro per l’Italia la passione per la musica jamaicana di alta qualità.

Con il tempo, seguendo il percorso naturale della musica reggae ed il percorso spirituale di Rastafari, le sue selezioni si sono discostate dallo stile esclusivo revival primi anni 60 esplorando a 360 gradi le produzioni roots e dub anni 70 e 80. Ora Jah Lion propone good conscious reggae music di tutte le epoche partendo dalle origini del roots rocker reggae arrivando fino alle più recenti ed innovative produzioni e sperimentazioni roots e dub stepper UK style.

Dopo alcune collaborazioni con diversi MCs valtellinesi e milanesi, oggi a Luca si è affiancato Natty da Firenze che con lui cura le selezioni. Al microfono del sound vi è oggi l'Mc Iacopo, forte dell'esperienza con King David Warriors. Tra le yard che hanno ospitato le vibes di Jah Lion i migliori ricordi sono legati ai seguenti luoghi: CS PergolaTribe (MI), Rototom Sunsplash Festival (UD), CS Leoncavallo (MI), Rainbow Club (MI), Acqua Potabile (MI), CS Murazzi (TO), Torre dell'Orso -Salento- (LE), CS Pacì Paciana (BG), Fly (GE), Castello Reggae Festival (FR), Fiornensound Fiorenzuola (PC), CS AQ16 Reggio Emilia, Balerna (Svizzera), e ovviamente Ostello "La Vespa" di Domaso (CO) da dove tutto ciò ebbe inizio. Jah Lion ha avuto il piacere e l'onore di affiancare alla control tower, tra i tanti artisti incontrati, Steve Vibronics, Madu, Zulu 99Posse, King David Warriors (now Spiritual Wax), Mighty Prince Alla, Asher Selecta, Nucleus Roots, Mighty Aba Shanti I, Oxman from Soul Jazz Sound System.

Il nome del sound è molto impegnativo incarnandosi in un’immagine assoluta ed universale, ma funge da bandiera alla musica che viene proposta. La ricerca del misticismo racchiuso nelle low frequences hanno spinto Jah Lion ad una ricerca e ad una sperimentazione sempre più profonda proponendo oggi una vasta selezione di unreleased dubplates dei migliori producers inglesi ed europei e specials di artisti del calibro di Max Romeo, Rankin Joe, Prince Alla, Sugar Minott, Brother Culture, Justin Hinds, Everton Blender ecc.

Il sound system di cui oggi è fornito Jah Lion è stato ricavato dal riadattamento dei vecchi scoob binz costruiti per mano di Milton from Jah Trinity UK. Medi e alti sono in costruzione e utilizzano drivers eminence. Il suono proveniente dalla puntina stanton 680el innestata su di un giradischi technics 1200, viene preamplificato dal Jah Tubbys Preamp e amplificato da finali Chrysalis. Completano l'attrezzatura del sound due sirene autocostruite, delay boss de200 e delay roland sde1000.

Il 2006 ha inoltre visto la nascita di uno spazio radiofonico condotto da Jah Lion sulle frequenze di Radio Onda D'urto che trasmette in FM nel nord Italia, via streaming e via saltellite nel resto mondo. Questo spazio settimanale prende il nome di Rasta Reggae Radio e, oltre a spingere le nuove selezioni dub, apre un canale per tutto il roots reggae prodotto o selezionato con grande impegno dai sound systems milanesi e non. La trasmissione manda in onda anche interviste agli artisti di passaggio in Italia e registrazioni di eventi live.

Jah Lion, also known some years ago with the name of "Lion of Judah Sound", was born in the 1997 for the wish of a collector from the countryside of Sondrio (small italian alpine city), with a strong passion for Rocksteady, Ska and Early Reggae vinyl recordings, to transmit his own musical acquaintances and the message contained in his records to the people who encircle him. The project, born illicit in a sunny afternoon on a beach of Como Lake, and proposed to the holidayers like alternative to the naturalistic attractions of the place, has demonstrated since its first hours of life a good consent of public. This unexpected surprise has pushed Luca Pelizzatti, the founder, to continue to invest always greater resources in this work in the attempt to transmit, more and more to the people around Italy, his big passion for the jamaican music of higher quality.

Along the time, following the natural route of reggae music and the spiritual route of Rastafari, his selections have discostate from the exclusive revival "first age 60s style" exploring to 360 degrees the Roots and dub productions ages 70s and 80s. Nowadays Jah Lion Sound proposes good conscious reggae music of all ages, leaving from the origins of Roots rocker reggae, arriving until the most recent & xperimental Roots and dub stepper UK style productions.

After some collaborations with several MCs from Valtellina and from Milan, today at the microphone there is Mc Iacopo from King David Warriors. The Crew is completed by Natty from Florence who sorts the selections with Luca which is founder. Jah Lion vibes have been spreaded in may yards during the years. The best memories go to the following places: Social Center PergolaTribe (MI), Rototom Sunsplash Festival (UD), Social Center Leoncavallo (MI), Rainbow Club (MI), Acqua Potabile (MI), Social Center Murazzi (TO), Torre dell'Orso cilff - Salento- (LE), Social Center Pacì Paciana (BG), Fly (GE), Castello Reggae Festival (FR), Fiornensound Fiorenzuola (PC), Social Center AQ16 (Reggio Emilia), Balerna (Switzerland), and obviously “La Vespa” Hostel in Domaso (CO) from where all that had begun. Jah Lion has had the pleasure and the honor to play side by side with big artists like Steve Vibronics, Madu, Zulu 99Posse, King David Warriors, Mighty Prince Alla, Asher Selecta, Nucleus Roots and many more.

The name of the sound represents an "heavy weight" because it incarnates itself a universal and absolute icon, but in the mean time, it represents the only right flag to the music that Jah Lion proposes. The research of the best mystic energy carryed by the low frequences of reggae music has pushed Jah Lion to search the deepest experimentations, proposing today a large selection of unreleased dubplates from the best UK and European producers and specials of big roots artists like Max Romeo, Rankin Joe, Prince Alla, Sugar Minott, Brother Culture, Justin Hinds, Everton Blender etc.

The sound system supplied by Jah Lion has been gained from the readaptation of the old Jah Trinity UK scoob binz hnd made by Milton. Work in progress for our new Mid and Treble boxes self manifactured using drivers eminence. The music coming from a Stanton 680el stylus, grafted on a technics 1200 deck, is preamplified by Jah Tubbys Preamp and amplified by Chrysalis amps. The equipment is provided with two self manifactured sirens, a boss de200 delay and a roland sde1000 delay.

2006 have moreover seen the birth of a radio space lead from Jah Lion on the frequencies of "Radio Onda D'Urto" in FM for the north of Italy, via streaming and via saltellite for the rest world. This weekly radio program is named "Rasta Reggae Radio" and beyond pushing the new dub selections, it opens a channel for all the italian Roots reggae Sounds and producers. The transmission also features interviews to the best artists passing by Italy and live session recordings.
